All County Football League Division 3

Con Magees 4-18 St Malachy’s 0-6

Con Magees got back on track in the league race after Sunday’s defeat to O’Donnell’s when they ran up a big score against visitors St Malachy’s at Fr Maginn Park on Wednesday night. The home side had three early points on the board through Declan Traynor, Conor McNeill and Conor Carey before the visitors opened their account in the seventeenth minute and after McNeill replied for Glenravel right half back Sean Shivers pulled another one back for the Saints with a well struck 45. The men in green were now starting to find their rhythm and after Aidan McCafferty added a point the pressure told when they were awarded a penalty which was dispatched to the net by right half forward Josh McKeown. Their tails were now up and in a frantic finish to the half the scores came think and fast as they opened a 1-0 to 0-3 gap by the break.

The home team continued to dominate after the break and Aiden O’Donnell increased their lead with three unanswered points. Aidan McCafferty grabbed the Con Magees second goal on forty three minutes as he drilled the ball low to the Saints net from close range and a series of pints from McNeill, McCafferty, McKeown and O’Donnell safely wrapped up the victory.
