Ruairi Og 2-17 Ballycran 1-19

Despite the fact they were missing Martin Burke, Sean Delargy, Aaron Graffin, Conor Carson, Fergus McCambridge, Sean McAfee, Christy McNaughton, Cormac McClafferty, Donal McNaughton and Cormac McAllister from their usual match day squad Ruairi Og still managed to collect both points from Saturday’s All County Hurling League clash against Ballycran at Pairc Mhuire.

In a highly entertaining game the effort and work rate of the other panelists ensured that Ruairi Og took the in a highly entertaining game to keep in contention in the league race. Neil McManus, Ryan McCambridge, Paddy McGill and David Kearney took some nice scores over the hour and a special mention must go to gamekeeper turned poacher Eoin Gillan who hit 1-01 from play from corner forward.

Defensively, Ruairi Og were a bit loose at times but Paddy Burke at full back and Eoghan Campbell at wing half really stood strong against a lively Ballycran attack, also Conor McAllister in goals made a few sharp stops including a fine save from a penalty from ‘Cran net minder Stephen Keith.

Ballycran will be disappointed after this defeat for they will seldom get a better chance of collecting both league points against the Ruairi Og, but can take heart from the performances of Michael Hughes, Sean Ennis and Michael Taylor in defence. Liam Savage scored a few nice points and went through a mountain of work in midfield and James Coyle in corner forward looked really dangerous throughout.
