Last weekend the Saffron Gael carried reports and photographs from every Junior, Intermediate and Senior Football Championship game played in the County. On top of that we carried reports and photographs on the Minor Hurling Championship games played at the weekend. We were in Belfast on Friday for the launch of the Dermot Early scheme at the Antrim offices and then down to St. Mary’s for the hurling coaching course by the four Tipperary hurlers. Add to that South West U12 and U14 semi-final reports with photographs, coverage of Cul camps and other articles that appeared and it adds up to a lot of man hours and effort. Antrim games have never had coverage at this level and we are determined to continue with this coverage.
To do so we need financial backing. We did not launch the Saffron Gael as a money making project as such but rather through our love and commitment to Gaelic Games in Antrim, but we do employ people to take photographs and do reports and we do have our own considerable expenses. The sight is free to viewers and we hope to keep it that way rather than putting it behind a Pay Wall.
We have been delighted by the money invested by sponsors, advertisers and donations and in the short term we are OK financially but if the Saffron Gael is to continue long term then we need continued investment and advertising.
This week it is the turn of the Hurling Championship and again we will endeavour to cover every game. This is another great opportunity for businesses in the participating club’s area to carry an advert wishing their clubs well.
Cost of such an advert is just £50-00 and, given the fact that the sight is likely to have up to 7,000 visits over the weekend and next week we feel it represents excellent value. If you would like to post an advert supporting your club while promoting your business, while helping to secure the future of the Saffron Gael, send your logo and message to ptrckmclwn@yahoo.co.uk or john.mcilwaine@yahoo.co.uk. We have posted a few examples of adverts that have appeared recently on the Saffron Gael for you to look at and we thank those advertisers for their generous support.
