Moneyglass 5-8 St Paul’s 0-3
Moneyglass retained their Feile A title on Saturday with a convincing win over St Paul’s in the final at Coláiste Feirste. The All Ireland champions were in control of the game from the start and after leading by 2-5 to 0-2 at half time they went on to win by 5-8 to 0-3.
Moneyglass opened the scoring in the third minute with a point from Alicia Boyd and shortly afterwards Maria O’Neill grabbed her team’s opening goal. Boyd added two points before Nicole Cassidy fired in her team’s second goal in the ninth minute. St Paul’s pulled a couple of points back but two by Ciara Scullin helped St Ergnat’s to a 2-5 to 0-2 lead by half time.
The second half continued in a similar vein as Caoimhe McErlane grabbed her team’s third goal three minutes after the restart. St Paul’s were awarded a penalty soon afterward and a chance to get back in the game but the Moneyglass goalkeeper was equal to the task and the danger was cleared and when Ciara Scullin got her team’s fourth goal soon afterwards the destiny of the trophy was decided. Futher points from Scullin, Maria O’Neill and Sarah O’Neill, and though the St Paul’s girls battled bravely to the end they could not close the gap as Moneyglass sealed the coveted Feile trophy for another year.
