Saints bounce back!!

Senior Ladies football Div. 2:

All Saints 4-19

Rossa 0-04

Following last week’s defeat away to Creggan All Saints returned to action at Quinn Park hosting West Belfast opposition Rossa who defeated the Saints in last year’s Championship.

Exams for some of the All Saints girls necessitated changes in selection from last week’s game and the return of Marnie O Neill and Sarah McLaughlin were a boost to the match-day squad.

Saints started slowly and opening exchanges suggested that this game would finish fairly even.

Four quick-fire points from Bronagh Shannon, Maria Sestakova, Wiktoria Babuszewska and Sarah McLaughlin steadied the ship and Saints began to control the majority of the play.

Bronagh Shannon finished off a great move, netting from close range and Saints led 1 09 to 0 02 at the break.

Saints started the second half brightly and Maria Goldring opened the scoring with a well taken point.

It would be unfair to Rossa not to make reference to their work rate, effort and neat build up play but on this occasion the All Saints girls broke up their play effectively and quickly turned defence into attack.

This was a deserved win for All Saints but Rossa deserve credit for their efforts and the sporting manor of their play.

Top scorers on the night were Bronagh Shannon 2 03,Maria Sestakova 1 06, and Marnie O’Neill 1 03

This was a good all round performance from the All Saints girls. They were solid at the back, creative at mid-field and attack and the return of Marnie O’Neill and Sarah McLaughlin had a steadying influence on the side.

Marnie O’Neill, Aibhe McKeith, Sinead McGarry, Sarah McLaughlin, Wiktoria Babuszewska, Maria Sestakova’s, Maeve Goldring, Maria Goldring and Bronagh Shannon were best in a good all round All Saints team.
