Hynds full of beans as he sinks Loch Mór

North Antrim Under 16 Championship

Con Magees 9-16 Loch Mór Dál gCais 5-6

Five goals and six points from Cathal Hynds steered Con Magees past the challenge of Loch Mór Dál gCais in Monday evening’s Under 16 B Hurling Championship preliminary round at Fr Maginn Park. The centre forward was in unstoppable form as the home team saw off the challenge of a hard battling Loch Mór side who battled to the very end.

The home team started with a Conor McNeilly goal inside thirty seconds but the visitors came straight back and Murtagh Moran fired in a brilliant goal less than a minute later. Con Magees then took over two further goals from Rian Lennon and Cathal Hynds helped them to a 2-7 to 1-2 half time lead.

A great goal from Ben Dunlop just after the restart gave Loch Mór renewed hope but two quick goals from Rian Lennon and Conor McNeilly all but ended the visitors’ chances. Hynds grabbed three more and stylish corner forward Cormac McKeown and substitute Joe McNeill also hit the rigging, while Darragh Turley and Ben Dunlop came back with goals for the visitors in a high scoring game.
