Last weekend Antrim captain Conor McCann was lifting the Joe McDonagh Cup on the steps of the Hogan Stand in Croke Park after his team’s final win over Kerry. Today he got the biggest prize of all when he married his beautiful fiancee Shauna Nic Gruagáin. The happy couple had planned to tie the knot earlier this year but had to change the dates a couple of times because of the Covid pandemic. However today it was third time lucky as the two tied the knot in St Trea’s Chapel, Newbridge in Co. Derry. Forming a guard of honour outside the church were three of Conor’s county team mates from last weekend, Matty Donnelly, Steven Rooney and Ryan McCambridge, plus three of Creggan’s finest… Conor Small, Kevin Rice and Kevin Small. Afterwards they travelled back across the river Bann to their reception in Tullyglass Hotel, Ballymena.

I’m sure all the Gaels in Antrim will join with us at the Saffron Gael in wishing the happy couple a long and happy life together.
