McMullan Cup round robin 1
Dunloy 4-9 Oisins 2-18
Three late goals from Dunloy had the Oisins holding on for grim death in Monday evening’s McMullan Cup round robin opener at Pearse Park Dunloy. With just seven minutes of normal time left it appeared the Glenariffe boys were on their way to an convincing win but a goal direct from a free by Ben O’Kane sparked a revival by the home side and when Oisin McCamphill grabbed another a minute later the comeback was on. When O’Kane got his team’s third goal in five minutes the Oisins were holding on, but they showed great character to hold on and start their campaign on the high.

During the first half and the early stages of the second the visitors were in great form and with Orrin O’Connor, Canice McIntosh, Phelin Ward, Callum McIlwaine and Peadar McDonnell hitting some great scores and at half time they were 1-10 to 0-6 ahead. A second goal just before the second half water break by Joe Leeach appeared to have wrapped it all up, but Dunloy had plenty left in the tank, and with the breeze behind them they picked of the scores to get right back into contention, and showed they will be one of the main contenders for the title as the competition unfolds.
