Henry Joy’s play Loch Mór in their first match

Henry Joy’s started out strong with the battle in midfield with Marty Toolan and Ronan Rush, the boys then went on to win their first free of the game taken by Ryan Clarke to put them on the scoreboard, Loch Mor Dal gCais didn’t give them an easy time and kept them on their toes as they built up their scores on the board.

Henry Joy’s then hit back with Joe McQuillan gaining two points, one from play and one from a free, which kept the Henry Joys in contention, then with the great team work of Pól O’Hagan and Peader Fitzpatrick who sent the ball in around the goals and allowed the Henry Joys to get their first goal of the game. To end the half Ryan Clarke came up from the half back line, running through from defence to fire the ball between the posts.

To begin the second half the boys worked hard but Ronan Rush made his time of the ball worthwhile as he took possession in the middle of the field and took his score. With subsitutions being made PJ Meenan came on to make an impression by taking the ball and driving through the Loch Mór defenders to result in another goal for the Henry Joys, PJ then gained possession in the middle of the field, way out from his position, and worked the ball in to Joe McQuillan fwho fired over the bar.

Loch Mor won possession and proceeded to give the home team a tough time out with their hard work and determination. However, the Joys weren’t ready to leave the score as it was with Dean Goodall making sure he got his name on the sheetsheet with a goal. Then once again on the frees for the Henry joys, Joe McQuillan was able to add to his tally with another fine strike gliding over the bar to be followed by another well earned point by Dean Goodall from the half forward line. To finish the game for the Henry Joy’s, super sub PJ Meenan dropped into the middle of the field where he raced his way through the Loch Mor defenders to grabe two more points from play.

Henry Joy’s would like to offer massive thanks to St.Malachys College for the use of their facilities for our matches and training and to the Referee of the night Seamus Reid. Lastly a big thanks to the Loch Mor Dal gCais team and management for the match, hopefully we can meet again soon!
