Homefit Antrim Football League – Division 2
St Teresa’s 2-6 Moneyglass 0-15
Five points without reply between the 15th and 21st minutes were the scores which swung this game in St Ergnet’s favour at St Teresa’s on Sunday. The home team had started with a bang and after Tiernan Duffin had given Moneyglass the lead the men form the Glen Road came back with a goal from corner forward Paul McGoldrick and a point from John Mallon to lead by three.
Man of the match Colum Duffin, who was to end with ten points to his name, cut the gap back to two on nine minutes, but St Teresa’s restored their three point lead a minute later when Luke Cassin fired over. Two quick points from Conal Prenter started a run for the visitors which saw them hit five on the spin, Dermot McErlain adding to Prenter’s double and Colum Duffin adding two more. Darren McCann popped one over for St Teresa’s but Colum Duffin hit his fourth of the half to give his team a three point lead at half time. (0-9 to 1-3)
Two more by Duffin just after the restart pulled St Ergnet’s five clear before Paul McGoldrick got St Teresa’s first point of the second half on 43 minutes. Two more from Duffin put his team six ahead by the midway point of the second half, but St Teresa’s staged a comeback with two points from John Mallon and a goal from Paul McGoldrick, his second of the game, to close within two with ten minutes still to play. However when the chips were down Duffin again came to the rescue and he fired over this tenth point of the game in the 58th minute to seal a three point win.
