O’Cahan Cup final abandoned

Kickham’s Creggan v St. Mary’s Ahoghill

Tonight’s O’Cahan Cup final between Kickham’s Creggan and St. Mary’s Ahoghill came to an abrupt halt following what looked like a serious injury to Ahoghill’s Martin Graham after only seven minutes of play. With Creggan taking an early 1-2 to 0-00 lead Graham challenged Creggan’s Kevin Rice and as the Kickham’s man broke clear with the ball the big Ahoghill number 6 appeared to fall on Rice’s trailing foot and went down holding his head.

Graham was attended to by family and friends and an ambulance was called and after more than 40 minutes it arrived with the Ahoghill man stretchered into the ambulance before being removed to Antrim area hospital.

. At that stage the Ahoghill team left the pitch followed by the Creggan men and it was unclear at the time if the game will be replayed.

We at the Saffron Gael wish Martin Graham a full and speedy recovery and I’m sure we speak for all Gaels in Antrim by expressing those sentiments.
