Sunday 12th June
Division One A (round one) 2.00pm
Kickham’s Creggan v Casement’s Portglenone
Having completed the first phase of the league programme, reigning county champions Creggan sit in top spot as they welcome Casement’s to the Staffordstown Road.
The Kickham’s have enjoyed a fruitful league campaign to date suffering just a single defeat.
Casement’s start the second phase in second place and having earned a share of the spoils with Creggan when they visited Kelly Park a few weeks past will travel in quiet confidence.
This does look a contender for ‘match of the day’ but ground advantage may well tilt the balance in favour of Creggan but a share of the spoils cannot be ruled out.
St John’s v O’ Donovan Rossa
Rossa shaded the issue when they entertained their close rivals at Shaw’s Road in the opening round of the league. Rossa will travel to Corrigan in round 2 and another close one looks in prospect.
Both the Johnnies and their visitors are going well after both endured a slightly mediocre early season run and although both are a way off the top that will net hinder ambition in this meeting.
Another close one is very much anticipated but the home side with their panel recently supplemented by the arrival of Matthew Fitzpatrick and ‘Bam’ Neeson may well take the points.
Erin’s Own Cargin v Lamh Dhearg
Little separated these close rivals in the opening round of competition with Cargin claiming a share of the spoils with the Lamh’s at Hannahstown.
They finished on level terms in that one at o 0-09 apiece after a close encounter and a similar affair is anticipated again as the action moves to
Toome.
Cargin are reigning league champions and Ronan Devlin’s side are still in the hunt to retain the title. The home side have been going well and they may well gain another couple of points from this encounter.
Section 1B
St Brigid’s v St Enda’s Glengormley
St Brigid’s just missed out on a place in the top section by a single point and although there is no prize at stake for success in this section they will be looking to remain on the positive as they play hosts to St Enda’s.
The Glengormley side have been inconsistent in 2022 but on their day can be a formidable opponent and could push St. Brigid’s all the way.
A close one is again in prospect but ground advantage may well ensure a win for the Musgrave men.
Gort na Mona v St Mary’s Ahoghill
Gort na Mona have struggled for much of the season with just a single win for the Enright Park residents and relegation to the second looks a distinct possibility.
St Mary’s took time to get it together this term but the Cloney side have improved as the season has progressed of and although tougher tests awaits them they should add to their 8 point total after this one.
St Gall’s v Tir na nOg
Tir na nOg made a good start to life in the top grade but have endured a long list of injuries of late and as consequence a dramatic slip down the ratings ensued.
St Gall’s are in the midst of team building but have steadily improved as the season has progressed and the present climate would suggest a win for Paddy Mc Shane’s men looks the likely result.
Division Two A (2.00pm)
Kickham’s Ardoyne v All Saint’s Ballymena
Ardoyne have improved as the season progressed and fully deserve their place in the A section as they welcome All Saints in round 2.
All Saints, following a quiet start to their league programme have steadily improved and are sitting in second place at present and an away victory in this one would put them in a strong position but Ardoyne have been excellent recently and will provide a stern test.
St Ergnat’s Moneyglass v Con Magees Glenravel
Having started the season well Moneyglass have maintained that form throughout despite a couple of lapses along the way and have a five point lead over their nearest rivals.
Glenravel have enjoyed a fair season but they remain seven points behind their hosts and although they are more than capable of asking questions on the front runners a win for Moneyglass looks probable.
St Paul’s v Michael Davitt’s
Both St Paul’s and their visitors in this one, Michael Davitt’s have been going well but both have slipped down the ratings a little of late.
Davitt’s sit a few places higher than their hosts at this time but St Paul’s have hit a bit of form recently and they may build on that form with a home win. .
Division Two B
St Mary’s Rasharkin v St Teresa’s
St Mary’s Rasharkin have hinted at better of late and although second from bottom the Dreen sideare capable of better.
St Teresa’s seem to have lost their way of late and they will need improvement if they are to get anything out of this trip to the South West.
St James Aldergrove v Cuchullian’s Dunloy
Aldergrove just missed out on a place in group A but will start this one as favourites as Cuchullian’s Dunloy visit Crumlin.
St. James defeated Dunloy in the first phase of the league in Dunloy and while the visitors are more than capable on their day, a home win does look probable.
Patrick Sarsfield’s v St Joseph’s Glenavy
Glenavy are sitting comfortably in this section and clear of the relegation issue as they visit the Bear Pit to meet Sarsfield’s.
Sarsfield’s recorded a good win at Rasharkin and followed that up with a draw at St. Teresa’s last time out to move out of the relegation zone but need something from this game to continue that recent good form and might just achieve it on their own ground.
