The second phase of the league continues closer to conclusion with another full list of games in the top two divisions scheduled for Wednesday evening.
Moneyglass have claimed the second division title with a couple of games to spare but the relegation issue is still to be determined whilst nothing is as yet decided in the top division with the league title and relegation still to be decided.
Division One A (all games at 7.45pm)
Erin’s Own Cargin v Casement’s Portglenone
Having proved too strong for Casement’s in the first phase of the league, Cargin may well fancy their chances of another win as John McKeever’s men visit Toome.
Casement’s have fared more than well in the league to date and they will travel to Toome in search of victory.
The Bannsider’s, have regained the winning habit in recent times following a couple of reversals and they will be fully intent on causing upset but Cargin will start as favourites and Ronan Devlin’s men may well gain the verdict.
O’ Donovan Rossa v Lamh Dhearg
Rossa came close to gaining a win over the visiting Creggan in their last game, holding the county champions to a draw, and Hugh Mc Gettigan’s men will look for a similar performance as they welcome Hannahstown to Shaw’s road.
Lamh Dhearg have enjoyed a good season but have suffered back to back reversals to Cargin and Casement’s and they will hope for improvement in this one.
They are capable of better but the present climate would suggest a home win is the probable scenario.
Kickham’s Creggan v St John’s
Having enjoyed a good league campaign to date, Creggan were held to a draw when they paid a visit to Rossa, and they will hope to get back to winning ways in this one as they welcome the Johnnies
The reigning county senior champions remain at the top of the table and will hope for no further slip ups in the last couple of games to ensure the Eddie Fitzsimmons trophy returns to the Staffordstown road.
St John’s lost to Cargin in Toome last time out and they will hope for a better result in their return to the South West.
Creggan will start as firm favourites and although their visitors may well ask them some stern questions ground advantage should be the key to victory for the Kickham’s men.
Division One B
St Mary’s Aghagallon v St Enda’s Glengormley
Aghagallon have endured a terrible season thus far, with a long catalogue of injuries and several key men away in the USA and find themselves within the relegation zone and in dire straits at the moment.
They need the points as a matter of urgency and a positive return is essential as St. Enda’s visit.
St Enda’s are well clear of the bottom of the table and in the realms of safety with 15 points and game time and a matter of pride will be the only reward at stake as they take the trip to Aghagallon.
A home win and the points are essential for the home side and if they can recapture the form of last year then the beaten county senior championship finalists should collect the points to ease their worries.
Tir na nOg v St Brigid’s
Tir na nOg are another side who have suffered a long list of injuries this term.
Michael O’ Kane’s men looked good in their return to the top grade in the early part of the present campaign but have struggled recently and they urgently require points as St Brigid’s visit Whitehill.
The Musgrave Park side are in a better place than their hosts but only three points ahead and they will travel hoping for a win.
This looks like a close hard fought encounter with the points at stake important for both sides with ground advantage possibly tipping the balance in favour of the Randalstown men.
Gort na Mona v St Gall’s
Gort na Mona looked dead and buried a few weeks back but have improved dramatically in recent outings. The Enright Park side have turned the proverbial corner and three wins on the trot has given them hope of survival but more points are required.
St. Gall’s have 13 points secured to date and look safe but Gort na Mona will need to be at their best if they are to gain another victory over the men from the Lower Falls.
Division Two A
St Paul’s v Con Magees Glenravel
Pride is the motivator in this division as the league title is already secured as St Paul’s play hosts the Con Magees men. Moneyglass have already secured the Division 2 title with All Saints runners up but the winners of this one will finish in third place.
The home side were going well early in the present campaign and with home advantage they may well get the better in this one.
Michael Davitt’s v Kickham’s Ardoyne
Davitt’s were well placed in the early stages of the present campaign but have slipped down the table but will fancy their chances from this Ardoyne visit.
Kickham’s won six on the trot after losing their opening five games but have slipped in recent outings and this one could go either way.
All Saint’s v St Ergnat’s Moneyglass
Second place All Saint’s play hosts to Moneyglass and although the visitors have already secured the league title they will want to finish their campaign unbeaten and will start as favourites
All Saint’s took a time to get going this term but have put a long unbeaten run together to finish runners up and like the visitors will hope to finish their campaign with a win.
Division Two B
Patrick’s Sarsfield’s v Cuchullian’s Dunloy
Both Sarsfields and Dunloy have 13 points to date and look safe from relegation and this one has only pride at stake.
Sarsfield’s have picked up the pace of late and with home advantage may well take the points.
St Joseph’s Glenavy v St Teresa’s
Relegation is certainly an issue in this one as St Joseph’s play hosts to St Teresa’s with the points at stake probably decisive.
If the Glenavy men gain a full return of the points then status will be secured but the visitors have secured a couple of recent wins and another one here would certainly improve their survival chances.
A close encounter looks likely with ground advantage possible tipping the balance towards a home win.
St. James Aldergrove v Rasharkin
This looks like a last throw of the dice for Rasharkin as they visit Crumlin to cross swords with St James Aldergrove.
Aldergrove are not involved in the relegation issue and in a safe position above the drop zone and though they will start this one as favourites the greater need for points could swing it Rasharkin’s way
