The P3 pupils of St. Brigid’s and St. Colmcille’s primary schools were guests at Slemish Park on Monday to mark the start of Cumann na mBunscol Week. Clubs and schools across Ireland will take part in a variety of activities during the week to celebrate and promote Gaelic games in our primary schools. The All Saints club invited the boys and girls to join them for a GAA Fun coaching session under the tutelage of Gaelfast coaches Dominic McKinley & Conor McLornan and All Saints club coaches. Upwards on 120 children participated in the event across the morning experiencing Gaelic football, camogie and hurling. Many of the children are frequent visitors to the club’s facilities. For others it was their initial trip to the Woodside Road and the host club hopes it will the first of many visits.
The project was supported by Radius Housing and Jim Brady, SW Cumann na mBunscol Chairperson, was joined by Lisa Mooney from the housing association to mark the occasion. Radius support enabled every child to head home happy with either a First Touch football or sliother to help them to continue their practising at home. If any parent wishes to find out more about what the club has to offer children aged 4 to 17 years they can contact juvenile chairperson, Eamon McKillop, directly (07702566865).
