Fun was the name of the game at Glenavy Cul Camp

Monday 3rd July kick started our annual Cul-camp week when 100 boys and girls arrived at St Joseph’s GAC Glenavy kitted out in this year’s Kellogs Cul camp gear. The children were introduced to Conor from Premier Fittness who started the morning of a warm up and some stretches.
Players aged between 6 to 13 took part in Gaelic Games including Camogie, football, rounders and fundamental movement skills. Each day finished off with mini blitzes.

On Wednesday the camp welcomed LCCC Deputy Lord Mayor Gary McCleave who took time to chat with the children and mentors.
On Thursday the children aged 8 to 13 enjoyed a mental health session with Stephen from YMCA. They had the opportunity to discuss the importance of being respectful and the skill set required to make a good team player.
There were a number of club players coaching and Paul Law from Gaelfast and Marty Mclaughlin from Antrim GAA, who also assisted this week, commented that the coaches were a credit to the club. Their enthusiasm and session plans kept the players active and entertained all week.
This week would not have been possible without the support of management, coaches, young helpers and parent helpers. It was very much a team effort. Big thank you to all involved.
