Cumann na mbunscol success for Rasharkin

St Patrick’s Rasharkin emerged victorious in the recent Allianz Ireland Cumann na mbunscol SW Antrim indoor 5 a side competition held in the Antrim Forum.

In an enthralling days football all that is good in the game was displayed. Great attacking, defending, scores, blocks, saves and determination were very much the order of the day.

An outstanding fifteen schools were in attendance, proof if proof be needed, that football is alive and well in the South West of our county.

Schools were split into two groups, with the top four in each group progressing to the cup quarter finals and the remaining schools into the shield competition.

After an exhausting morning with plenty of game time for all involved both competitions were whittled down to 8 and the prospect of play offs in the afternoon was foremost in everyone’s mind.

Eventually, finalists in both competitions were found, St Patrick’s Rasharkin and Moneynick in the cup and St Oliver Plunkett Toome and St Comgall’s Antrim in the shield.

After tense, tight and competitive finals two teams were left standing, St Patrick’s Rasharkin in the cup and St Oliver Plunkett Toome in the shield.

All at SW Cumann na mbunscol wish the Rasharkin boys well when they participate in the All County finals in the new year.
