All Saints GAC have launched a year of celebration and events to mark the club’s 50th anniversary. Formed in 1975 the last 5 decades have witnessed the Ballymena club grow from humble beginnings, when games were played in the parish field at Hugomont, through to the move to the current club facilities at Crebilly in the mid to late1980s. Tremendous effort and development both on and off the pitch has ensured that over the last 50 years the club has become a central part of parish life in Ballymena. Offering its members the opportunity to play all four Gaelic codes under the All Saints banner is something all connected with the club are extremely proud of along with the many other community based activities All Saints GAC organises and immerses itself in throughout the year.
Club History Project:
Among the host of planned commemorative events is the writing of a book charting the history of the club since 1975. While much work has already been invested in this writing project the club is seeking to leave no stone unturned in adding to its content. With that in mind the club is asking all who have had an All Saints connection through the years and who may have memorabilia connected with the club to get in touch. Maybe you have some old team photos, an old trophy or two, a newspaper clipping or just some great memories to share. If so, we’d love to hear from you. Just scan the QR code and upload details to the portal and we’ll be in touch. Alternatively e mail chairperson.allsaintsballymena.antrim@gaa.ie with the information.
While we welcome all contributions we are particularly on the lookout for pictures and stories from the early days at Hugomont whether that be from games or the famous sports days held there and any hurling and camogie photographs from down the years that may be out there.
