Roger Casements GAC & LGFA are delighted to be hosting their first-ever Gaelic for Mothers & Others blitz this Saturday, 17th October, at Páirc Uí Cheallaigh, Portglenone.
Aptly named Saturday Night Lights, the event will bring together teams from across Antrim and Derry for an evening of football under the floodlights.
Taking place during Baby Loss Awareness Week, the blitz will also raise funds through donations for The White Butterfly Foundation, a local charity providing compassionate and psychological support to families affected by miscarriage, pregnancy loss, baby loss and neonatal death. With personal connections to families within the club, this is a cause particularly close to the hearts of the Roger Casements community, and the G4MO ladies are proud to lend their support.
Roger Casements G4MO was established in September 2024, with the ladies taking to the pitch for their first training session on 18th February 2025. Under the guidance of Gerard McAleese, the group has since gone from strength to strength, growing to an impressive 45 members.
Training takes place every Tuesday at 8pm, welcoming ladies of all ages and abilities, whether returning to football or trying it for the first time. New members are always welcome! Since forming, the group has enjoyed friendlies and blitzes with Antrim, Tír na nÓg, Moneymore, Cloughmills, St Brigid’s and Ballymena, and are now delighted to be hosting their own event.
The club looks forward to welcoming nine visiting clubs: Erin’s Own Lavey, St Colm’s Ballinascreen, Ballerin, Shane O’Neill’s Glenarm, Colin Gaels Belfast, Naomh Pádraig Lisburn, Gort na Móna, St Agnes’ and St Ergnat’s Moneyglass.
Football gets underway at 5pm, with games continuing until 7pm, followed by an evening of refreshments, music and plenty of craic for the visiting teams once the boots come off.
The Roger Casements G4MO ladies would like to extend their sincere thanks to Fullan’s Foodhall Portglenone, McFall’s Meats, The Village Inn, Duffin & McGovern Accountancy and Bann Valley Wild Flowers, whose generous donations and support have helped make Saturday Night Lights possible.
They are also extremely grateful to Ursula Madden Hair for sponsoring their playing jerseys, and to Eden Fabrications, MMPS Limited and Ard na Grainde Private Residential Home for supporting the LGFA and G4MO training tops supplied by Outfield Clothing.
Roger Casements warmly invite club members, families, friends and the wider community to Páirc Uí Cheallaigh this Saturday, 17th October, from 5pm to 7pm, to enjoy the football, support the ladies and help raise funds for The White Butterfly Foundation.
Saturday Night Lights marks a proud milestone for Roger Casements G4MO, celebrating how far the group has come and, above all, the friendships, enjoyment and community spirit that make
