Aghagallon and Lamh Dhearg pipped at All Ireland Scór na nÓg Final

Aghagallon Léiriú group and the Lamh Dhearg quiz group who competed in the All Ireland Scór na nÓg Finals in Sligo

On Saturday 17th February, people from every corner of Ireland travelled to Sligo to compete in the All Ireland Scór na nÓg Final and what a day it was. The talent of the young people is unbelievable and it was a wonderful celebration of our cultur .

Two clubs from Antrim were represented in this year’s All Ireland Scór na nÓg Final in Sligo. The first event of the day was the quiz. Antrim was represented by Lámh Dhearg, the current County Champions. Although they did really well, it was Co. Cavan who claimed the National title .

Next up was the Léiriú Stáitse competition. Aghagallon are the current Antrim and Ulster champions and they delivered a flawless performance of “The Leprachaun’s Gold”. The children could not have done any better but they narrowly missed out on an All Ireland medal to Co. Westmeath.

We are extremely proud of all of the competitors who represented our County this weekend. Although it’s extremely heart wrenching to miss out on a National title, they have made memories that will last a lifetime and have made their clubs, families , parishes and County extremely proud. GAA President Aogán Ó Fearghail spoke of how Scór was a great way for us to promote culture in our clubs and said how proud he was of all of the young competitors .

It’s safe to say that Scór is alive and well in Antrim. If your club isn’t already involved, you’re missing out. It really is something special and much more than just a competition.

Well done Lámh Dhearg and Aghagallon. You are Champions in our eyes.
