St John’s Camogie Club Carnlough awards night

St Johns’s Camogie Club Carnlough hosted their annual dinner dance in The Londonderry Arms Hotel, Carnlough on Saturday past. Guests of honour were Loughgiel and Antrim stars, Lucia McNaughton and Maria Lynn, former Antrim Camogie chairman, Vincent Boyle and former St John’s chairman and former Antrim minor coach, Johnny Sayers. All Ireland winners Lucia and Maria brought the Jack McGrath Cup along for the evening and Johnny brought the Ulster Championship trophy won by last year’s Antrim minor team on the way to their own All Ireland success.

While those trophies took pride of place at the event, they weren’t alone and the club were able to honour their successful U-12 and U-14 teams. The U-12 team went unbeaten in winning the Division 2B Antrim League while the U-14s, in their first season, won the League and Championship in 2B.

At the U-12 age group Eimear Ward and Kiara McLaughlin shared the Player of the Year prize while Orlaith Quinn was named the Most Improved Player. For the U-14 team, Eva Lee was awarded Player of the Year and the Most Improved Player award was shared by Anna McNamee and Caitlin Reid. There was also a special award donated by the family of the late Mal Quinn for Club Person of the Year and it was won by Club Chairman, Eamon McFadden and presented by Mal’s daughter, Orlaith.

The Club would like to thank the guests of honour for attending, the club sponsors for all of their support for the girls across the year, The Londonderry Arms Hotel for hosting the event, Bella’s Little Luxuries for the balloon arch and table decorations, John Mulvenna for the music, Brian Quinn for the photographs and everyone who bought tickets or donated prizes for a very successful raffle on the evening.
