Under 15 Hurling League – Division 1
Ballycastle 2-8 Cushendall 4-27
One of the favourites for this year’s Under 15 honours Ruairi Og Cushendall showed just why they are strongly fancied when they travelled to Cushendall on Tuesday evening and beat them by 4-27 to 2-8
On a terrible evening for hurling, with a strong wind and driving rain, Ballycastle had first use of the elements and they started like a house on fires as centre forward Darragh Donnelly hit 1-4 without reply. It took a while for Cushendall to get going they soon took over and boosted by two goals from full forward Oran McCambridge and one from corner forward Thomas McLauglin they went on to lead by 3-7 to 2-6 at half time, Ballycastle’s other goal coming from Darragh Donnelly.
With the wind behind them in the second half the scores came thick and fast for Cushendall with McCambridge, Bradley, McLaughlin and Callagh Mooney displaying their wide range of skills, while Darragh Donnelly and Conor Donnelly did all in their power to keep them at bay.
In the other games in Division 1 Loughgiel had a 6-12 to 4-9 win over the Glenariffe/Glenravel combination at Fr Healy Park, St Paul’s travelled to Davitt’s and beat them by 4-11 to 2-7 while in a remarkable game at Whitehill St Enda’s beat Tir na nÓg by a remarkable scoreline of 9-10 to 9-09
