Cushendall come with a late run to secure final place

Feis Cup Senior Hurling – Semi-final

Loughgiel 1-9  Cushendall 1-11

Cushendall secured their place in the final of the Senior Feis Cup when they beat Loughgiel in dreadful conditions at Fr Healy Park on Sunday afternoon. A young Shamrocks team had the upper hand in the opening half and were 1-1 to 0-1 ahead in the early stages, the goal coming from Rian Bubbles McMullan but Cushendall got back into the game with a well taken goal from Sean McAfee and by half time there was just a point between the sides.

Loughgiel’s Paul Boyle in action against Cushendall’s Ryan McCambridge during the Feis Cup semi-final at Fr Healy Park.

In a low scoring second half Loughgiel increased their lead with a pointed 65 by McMullan and one from play by Shay Casey to move three clear.

However that was to the be Loughgiel’s last score of the game and despite not scoring until the 18th minute of the second half, Cushendall suddenly hit a purple patch and added five without reply through Paddy Magill, Aidan McNaughton, Aidan Delargy and McGill again to seal the win and book their place in the final.
