Glenariffe/Glenravel beat St Paul’s in high scoring game

Antrim Under 15 Hurling League Division 1 A

Glenariffe/Glenravel 4-22 St Paul’s 4-04

There were plenty of goals on show during the Glenariffe/Glenravel v St. Paul’s Under 15 League game on Tuesday night in Waterfoot, both sides hitting four apiece. However it was the home team’s ability to knock over points that made the difference and in Joseph McKay and Canice McIntosh they had players who certainly knew where the posts were, McKay hitting 11 points overall.

A goal in ten minutes by Sean Og McLaren brought St Paul’s back level after McIntosh, Burns and McCann had got Glenariffe/Glenravel away to a good start, but midway through the half Darach Casey got in for goal number two for the Belfast boys to keep them in touch. However a series of  points from Joe McKay pulled  Glenariffe clear and a Cahir McNaughton goal gave them 2-13 to 2-1 lead at half time.

A Darragh Brown goal at the start of the second half gave St Paul’s a boost and when Sean Og McLaren added a point the gap was down to eight. Glenariffe/Glenravel responded with a Gerard Burns goal and one from full back James Kearney which saw them pull clear in the end.
