UU Jordanstown 2-20 U Limerick 1-8
A year after narrowly losing a derby Fr Meachair Cup final to Queen’s, the University of Ulster Camogie team clinched the title in the Connacht Centre of Excellence on Sunday afternoon with a comfortable win over University of Limerick.
Antrim were well represented on the winning side with almost half the panel hailing from the Saffron County. Antrim senior County players all put in strong performances over the weekend with Cassie McArthur scoring 2.02 in the final with captain Eavanne Martin and Fionnuala Kelly also registering scores.
Aisling O’Donnell featured well in both games picking off 0.2 in the semi-final. Antrim wing back Erin Coulter scored three points on the way to collecting the Player of the Match award.
Eimear Johnston impressed throughout both games with her tireless running at midfield. Loughgiel’s Eimear McGivern was solid in nets with her accuracy on puck outs enabling UU to set up in attack. She also saved a penalty in the final.
Nuala Devlin also got in on the action at the weekend scoring 1.01 in the semi-final against DCU. Overall it was a very impressive performance by the whole team ensuring the Fr Meaghair trophy came North for the second year in a row.
