Feis na nGleann 2025 – Senior Camogie semi-final

Cushendall Ruairi Og qualified for the final of the Senior Camogie Feis when they beat Loughgiel in the semi-final last weekend at Pairc Mhuire. The home side led by a point at the end of a low scoring first half, and the teams were level at full time, but Cushendall gained the upper hand during extra time, outscoring the Shamrocks by 0-05 to 0-02 in that period to seal the final spot.
An early Maria Laverty point gave Loughgiel the lead in the second minute but four minutes later Eva McNeill and Orlagh Burke came back with two points inside thirty seconds. The visitors replied with points from Ciara Laverty and Anna McKillop to go back ahead but Cara O’Boyle brought Cushendall level on ten minutes and ended a 19 minute scoreless spell just before the break to give her side a 0-04 to 0-03 advantage at the interval.
Loughgiel got the first two points of the second half through Maria and Orlagh Laverty, and after Eva McNeill pulled on back for the ‘Dall Maria Laverty and Christine McCloskey stretched the Shamrocks advantage.
Cushendall came back strongly with four points in a row, three of them from Eva McNeill and one from Amy McAlister and it looked like they were in the driving seat, but Loughgiel finished strong with points from Katie McKillop and Emma McFadden to bring the game to extra time.
Katie McKillop put Loughgiel back in front with a point from a free at the start of extra time but four in a row from the home side, two by Evan McNeill and one each from Kady McNeill and Orlagh Burke opened a three point gap with time almost up. Katie McKillop cut the gap back to two with a point from a free, but top scorer Eva Neill had the final say to give Cushendall a 0-14 to 0-11 victory and a place in the final at Fies na nGleann in a couple of weeks’ time.
