Celebrations at Pearse Pairc as Dunloy receive league cup.

It was celebration time at Pearse Pairc Dunloy on Saturday as the Cuchullain’s qualified for the semi-final of the Senior Hurling Championship with a resounding victory over Padraig Sarsfield’s and to add to the celebrations they were presented with the division 1 league cup by Antrim County Chairman, Collie Donnelly during the interval of the Sarsfield’s encounter.

James McKeague was the man receiving the trophy and in a good day for the Dunloy men he and ‘Woody’ McKinley were presented with a new playing kit by Dixon Contractors which they wore for the first time against the ‘Paddies’.

Sarsfield’s suffered a heavy defeat but turned in a creditable second half performance to suggest that they have enough in their tank to survive in division 2 this year and will be looking forward to their meeting with Cushendall in the final game of the championship qualifiers at the Bear Pit.

Dunloy and Sarsfield’s U12’s lined out for a game of their own during the interval of a colourful day’s sport and the good travelling support who arrived and departed in a large pink double-decker bus certainly played their part as they supported their side right to the final whistle.
