Four years ago former Creggan and Antrim footballer Sean Maguire received his diagnosis of lymphoma. In April 2020, he started his treatment. As a keen footballer for Creggan and Antrim in his day, with a spot of refereeing along the way, sport and fitness have always been very important to Sean. To show their appreciation and gratitude for the tremendous help that Macmillan Cancer Suppport has given Sean, his daughter Seána and the Maguire family set up a Just Giving page and organised a virtual walk from Creggan to Croke Park throughout the month of March in keeping with PHA COVID guidelines to raise awareness.
The aim is to raise funds for Macmillan and the tremendous work they do for patients and their families.
This week some members of the group have walked just over 30 miles which is the equivalent to the journey from Kickhams pitch to Casement Park so they are on schedule.
