Oisins’ Alex O’Boyle who scored eleven points in his team’s win over Carey Faughs
All County Hurling League Division 2
Glenariffe 1-21 Carey faughs 2-13.
Oisins, who play the Faughs in the opening round of the Intermediate Championship in a few weeks’ time, won this rehearsal after a bruising battle in Waterfoot. The home side were in pole position after four minutes when Paul McDonnell found the Carey net to leave them 1.1 to 0.1ahead. The Faughs seemed to be slow to settle but the gradually built momentum and the slowly worked their way back to level the scores at 1-2 to 0-5 after 15mins courtesy of points from Martin Hunter, Sean McLaughlin, Doug McCauley, Fichra McVeigh and James Black, while Alex o Boyle responded for the
Hosts to send them in 1-9 to 0-8 at the break
On the restart the Faughs got the perfect start after when Fichra Mc Veigh grabbed a goal to leave only a point between the sides, but despite this setback the Oisins hit back with five unanswered
points through Niall Murray, Paul McDonnell and three from the dangerous Alex O’Boyle.
Despite the prompting of the James ‘Rocket’ Black, James McCouaig and Sean McBride the 5 point margin was never reduced and a 27th minute Fichra McVeigh goal proved no more than a consolation score.
