Cushendall do the double

Antrim Feile Camogie final

Cushendall Ruairi Og : 5-10 Loughgiel Shamrocks 1-0

Cushendall completed a double, double for the club when they won the county Feile Camogie title by beating Loughgiel in Thursday evening’s final in Cushunedun. Last Saturday the young hurlers won their second Feile title on the trot at Dunsilly and on Thursday the girls in the club did the same with a polished performance against Loughgiel

Amy McAlister got Cushendall’s first score on two minutes, but when Loughgiel hit back with a goal from right half forward Riona McCaughan it looked like their might be an upset on the cards. However pre match favourites Cushendall came back with a goal of their own from full forward Cliodhna Thompson and from then on they controlled the game.

Points from Evan McNeill and Erinmae Mitchell were followed by a second goal from Cliodhna Thompson, and when they added points through Tamara Black (2) Eva McNeill they were 2-6 to 1-0 ahead at the break.

The Ruairette’s dominance continued after the break and further goals followed from Eva McNeill, who hit two, and substitute Emma Mitchell. There were also points from Amy McAlister (2), Eva McNeill and Tamara Black as they sealed the Feile title in style
