Shamrocks take the points in Portglenone

All County Camogie League – Division One

Portglenone 1-11 Loughgiel 3-13

Loughgiel travelled to Portglenone on Tuesday evening for the return of their league fixture, and came away winners after a hard fought battle. Although the grass was a bit long it didn’t affect the quality of the play as both teams produced a high quality game in ideal conditions                                                                                        Portglenone opened the scoring with Jane Carey firing over a point and after an exchange of points Loughgiel hit the front when Racquel McCarry raced through to fire the ball to the Portglenone net. The visitors were gaining and edge in play but hard work from Portglenone saw them hold the Shamrocks to a goal lead but half time on a scoreline of 2-5 to 1-5.                                                     Loughgiel’s Amy Boyle had a great battle at midfield with Portglenone’s Katie McAleese, while Anna Kelly also impressed for the home side as she worked tirelessly at centre half forward. Louise Crozier sent over a brilliant point direct from the sideline ‘cut’ on the right hand side to keep the Geraldine’s in touch but the Shamrocks began to widen the gap with points from Shauna Devlin and Una McNaughton and a goal from Aisling McFadden. That all but wrapped up the win for Loughgiel but Hannah McKeague sealed it late on as despite taking a hard hit she sealed the deal for the Shamrocks with a well taken goal
