Under 16A Camogie League:
Brídíní Óga 2-10 Ballycastle 4-6
This Under 16 league game at Glenravel on Friday was a game that either team could have won.
Early on it looked as if the home side would prevail as they scored the first four points (3 from Aimee Traynor and the other from Beth McAuley). However the Ballycastle management switched Nuala Devlin back on to Aimee and that seemed to give their team a foothold in the game. Maeve Kelly hit two good frees for Ballycastle either end of a fine goal from Rhiana McBride to level matters after 20 minutes.
Kelly was to add a point and Enya McShane scored a goal before the break while at the other end Traynor brought her first half tally to 5 and Niamh Donnelly added a point for the teams to turn over with the visitors ahead by 2-3 to 0-7.
The game flowed from end to end during the second half but Ballycastle had taken the initiative early on when Rhiana McBride caught a long delivery and spun round to crash home a third goal for her side.
Brídíní Óga took longer to get going after the break but goals from Bronagh Laverty and then Niamh McKay closed the gap to a point with time running out. However Ballycastle responded with a hand-passed goal from Naomi Williams and, despite points from Beth McAuley and Niamh Donnelly, they held out to take victory.
