Liam Watson hit eleven points from frees as Warwickshire beat Leirtim on today’s Lory Meagher Cup final at Croke Park
There was little between the sides in the opening half and the end of which Leitrim led by 0-10 to 0-8. Manager Tony Joyce, a former Gort na Mona man, was obviously worried about his leaky defence in the first half so he pulled a master stroke as he moved Watson back to play just behind the half back line, and it worked a treat. Not only did they hold Leitrim to a single point but Watson sent over a series of excellent points from long range frees to seal the win.
Former Carey Faughs player Colm McBride also got in on the act as he added a point after being introduced as a second half sub.
