Antrim teams doing well at Feile na nGael

O’Donovan Rossa have won their two games in Division 2 at the Feile na nGael finals in Kilkenny today. Based in Thomastown the Belfast boys beat St Martin’s of Kilkenny by 1-9 to 0-4 in their opening game and followed it up with an even more impressive 4-8 to 1-6 win over Trim of Meath. Tomorrow morning they play their hosts Thomastown in the final match in the group which sees the two unbeaten teams in the group go head to head. However the Kilkenny boys only beat Trim by two points in their group game while Rossa had eleven to spare so the signs are good for a quarter-final place. Davitt’s lost out in their two games when they were beaten by Belfast rivals Bredagh in their opening game by 5-5 to 0-4 while they were beaten 3-10 to 0-7 in their second game by Ashmore-Kilrush. Shane O’Neill’s Glenarm who are playing in Section 8 had mixed fortunes. They won their opening game against Castletown-Liam Mellows of Galway by 2-7 to 1-4 before losing out to Kinnity of Offaly by 4-5 to 2-5. The play their hosts Duffry Rovers/Feannaire na Dubh Tíre of Wexford in the final game this morning.

In the camogie Dunloy won their two games in Division 2 as they convincingly beat Shelmaliers of Wexford 4-7 to 1-0 in their opening game and they followed that up with a hard fought 2-2 to 05 win over Modeligo of Waterford. They face a tough challenge in tomorrow’s qualifying decider against their Wexford hosts Oulart the Ballagh but they must go into the game with great confidence of booking a place in the knock out stages.

Geraldines Portglenone who play in Division 4. Group D also scored two wins today, their first beings a 3-2 to 1-3 win over Dufry Rovers of Wexford and the second a runaway 10-1 to 1-1 victory over Rathcoffey of Kildare. Their final group game is tomorrow morning against Muinebheag of Carlow.
