All Saints GAC Family Fun Weekend started at “pace” tonight with the opening event – the Crebilly 5k. Over 100 runners of every age took to the hills and dips around the Woodside Road club’s premises. The weather was kind and a break in the rain helped the runners no end as many sought a PB on their time in last year’s inaugural event while those not running against the clock were able to take in the fabulous views across Ballymena from Crebilly. In the Senior Ladie’s Event last year’s winner, Paula McArthur, stormed home once again in first place in a time of 21:14 closely followed by 2nd placed Heather Malone on 22:07. The senior men’s event was won by Jarlath Falls who raced through the line in a time of 17:38 followed by David Hughes in 18:07. Junior winners on the night were Conor O’Rawe, Eva Casey and Ryan Thom while junior runners up were Sean Hasson, Anna O’Kane, Patrick McAuley and Corey McKillop. However in many ways the real winner on the night was AwareNI the club’s selected charity towards whom donations in lieu of an entry fee were made. The Crebilly 5k run is part of the All Saints GAC Family Fun Weekend which continues on Saturday with a range of events including attractions such as Bungee Trampolines. Total Wipeout and Paint Ball Target Shooting. The fun starts at 12.00noon and runs to 6.30pm.
