The Davitt’s team who won the Division 2 South Antrim Under 12 Hurling League with team mentors Alan Rainey and Canice Mooney Pic by Dylan McIlwaine
2017 had been a great year for the Davitt’s Under 12 hurlers despite losing out to St Paul’s in the final of the Nipper Quinn A Shield on Sunday.
After securing the Division 2 League title in the South Antrim Leagues the Davitt’s boys had a great championship semi final win against a good Brid Og team at Cliftonville. Five points down at half time the boys produced an unbelievable second half fightback to win by 5 points on a scoreline of 5-2 to 2-6. This extremely young team have done the club, parents and mentors proud
On Sunday they faced a formidable challenge against St Paul’s in the Nipper Quinn final and so it proved to be as the Shaw’s Road boys secured the silverware with a seven point win. That said it was still a very good display by Davitt’s who played all season in Division 2
Mentors Alan Rainey and Canice Mooney are delighted with how their young team have developed throughout the year and look forward to mixing it with the ‘big boy’s in 2018.
