Antrim Under 14B championship final replay:

 Creggan 4-4          Brídíní Óga Glenravel 2-2

Creggan took the under 14 B championship title pulling away from Brídíní Óga during the second half of the final replay in Cloughmills today.

The Glenravel based team looked to be the stronger team in the early stages, helped by a perfect start, a goal from Sarah Fyfe in the opening minute. However they didn’t really build on that and, assisted by a scrambled goal from Cerys O’Neill after 10 minutes Creggan grew into the game and were on level terms at the break, 2-1 each.

Aimee McIlhatton batted a goal home for Brídíní Óga after good work on the right wing from Gemma McPeake and Sarah Fyfe, but Player of the Match Evanne Martin fired in a goal in response from 35 metres and added a point before Orla Donnelly completed the first half scoring with a point from a free.

Creggan scored a goal right from the throw-in through full-forward Nayana Chauhan and Evanne Martin added a free soon after. Those scores put the south-west side in charge of their own destiny and they withstood a lot of pressure from the Glenravel girls before Orla Donnelly closed the gap with a pointed free.

Significantly Creggan hit back with a Martin free inside a minute to maintain the four points’ gap and, as Brídíní Óga pushed forward in search of scores, gaps appeared in their defence.

Eventually with five minutes left to play, Creggan had extra players on the break and Megan Darragh was in the right place to finish off the Glenravel challenge with a goal. Appropriately two late points from Evanne Martin completed the scoring for Creggan to collect the Shield from Antrim chairperson Julia McMullan.
