Erin’s Own Cargin launched their 2020 Vision to build a new clubhouse before a big crowd in the club’s current premises on Sunday evening
The beautifully designed clubhouse plans were put on show to the whole Toome community at a meeting attended by local politicians, clergy, club members and parishioners

Cargin chairman Gerard Laverty
Club chairman Gerard Laverty welcomed everyone to this special night in the history of the Cargin community before the project’s development team outined the building and the facilities it will provide for the local community. A major part of the project of course involves raising the finance for the building in advance so that club do not have to incur the debt of borrowing money and so the fund raising team launched their Mega 200 Club Draw which will be the main source of revenue for Cargin 2020.
One of the highlights of the evening was the launch of the club’s promotional video. The video, which features members young and old, has now been published on the club’s Facebook and twitter pages.
Those attending were also shown a special video of some ex pat Cargin people currently living in Australia who have already started raising funds among Gaels in Australia and New Zealand. The exiles talked about just how much Cargin meant to them even when they are far away.
The club’s aim is to build a complex fit for use for the whole parish population, to forge a link with all local communities and to be proud of their achievements. They aim to be debt free in five years handing over a building to future generations to enjoy and flourish.
