Over 100 players, parents, friends and family attended Saturday night’s Con Magees U16 Football presentation in the Ballsallagh Suite in GCDA. They were there to celebrate a fantastic 2016 season when the U16 footballers won the South West Antrim Championship and League, plus the Breslin Cup, and were a major contributory factor to Con Magees being awarded the coveted McStocker Cup by South West Antrim GAA for most Disciplined Club.
Proceedings kicked off with a slideshow showing not only the achievements of this team in 2016, but also covered their many victories stretching back 7 or 8 years. Was interesting to see how many of them are still playing today from those teams in 2010 and 2011. Many thanks to Dylan McIlwaine for supplying a lot of the photos.
After a delicious meal, Ian Hynds and Padraic McKenna presented a humorous set of slides outlining the year in summary. It included presenting several individual awards covering the usual items like Player of the Year and Most Improved Player, but also included some novel awards like “Best Haircut” won by Adam Campbell and “Best Diver of the Year” which was collected by Rian Lennon for a full stretch block captured by Dylan during the league final.
A really enjoyable and well attended evening, with the Ballsallagh Suite tastefully  decorated was rounded off by a presentation from the players to the management in thanks for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
