Bridini Oga fight back to earn a share of the spoils

U16 A CAMOGIE LEAGUE

Brídíní Óga 3-8 Dunloy 2-11

There won’t be a more competitive game in Fr Maginn Park this year than than Friday evening’s match between Bridini Oga and Dunloy in the Under 16 camogie league.

Bridini Oga were probably fortunate to escape with a share of the points as Dunloy’s first touch and striking was much crisper throughout and the home defence was under a lot of pressure.

The visitors looked to be in a very strong position when they moved eight points clear with a strong start to the second half and Orla Donnelly had to bring off some superb saves during that period of pressure. To their credit the home side came back very strongly with a goal from Niamh McKay, followed by one from a free from Niamh Donnelly.

The home side even took the lead with Beth McAuley firing over, but Dunloy hit back with two points inside a minute and looked like holding on for the win until Aimee Traynor pointed a close-in free three or four minutes from time. We were left holding on for the draw to remain unbeaten in this the first game of the second round of the league.
