It has been a tremendous achievement for the Year 8 team to reach the semi-finals of the “A” grade camogie competition, but this proved to be a step too far for our young team.

From an opening goal from St Pat’s Maghera’s Eimear Doherty in the first minute it looked like it was going to be a tough match for our girls.

Anna Burke burst through the Tower’s defence to score another goal and victory for the Tower was moving further and further away

In the second half however the Tower girls held St Pat’s Maghera scoreless for the first 10 minutes but the Derry girls were thirsting for more scores and Eavan Convery eventually blasted the ball in the back of the net.

Aine Flynn fired the ball into the back of the net a couple of minutes later and then there was a final goal scored by Anna Burke.

Maghera were strong all over the pitch, but St Killian’s re-organised and coped well with all the pressure, especially when Clodagh McPeake took over in goals. Abi McNeill was a strong presence at the centre of the defence and Orlaith McAlister did well in midfield
