Daniel Black of Shane O’Neill’s who represented Antrim in the Poc Fada
Tyrone’s Paddy McKillion won Thursday evening’s Ulster Poc Fada which this year was hosted by Shane O’Neill’s Glenarm. McKillian, who plays his club hurling in the Antrim leagues with Dungannon Eoghan Ruadh covered the course on Gowkstown Hill in 21 pocs, four less than his nearest rival Ruairi McCrickard of Down. Alan Grant of Derry was third with Antrim’s Daniel Black, from the host club, was fourth.
Louise Dougan of Slaughtneil and Derry won the ladies section as she went round in 32 pocs, one less than Antrim and Loughgiel’s Roisin McCormick.

The Under 16 boys section was won by Oisin Marley of Setanta Hurling Club, Donegal who went around in 28 pocs, just ahead of Down’s Eoin Pucci who also went around in 28, Marley’s final poc crossing the finish line by 28 metres more than Pucci’s. Aidan Scullion from the host club Glenarm was third in 30 pocs.
In the Under 16 Girls section Emma Donnelly of Tyrone took the top prize ahead of her namesake Naimh Donnelly of Bridini Oga and Antrim.
After the event Ulster GAA vice-president Oliver Galligan, and Ulster Camogie chairperson Jennifer Cultra presented the awards.
Overall a great competition and credit must go to the Glenarm club for their excellent organisation.
