Gortnamona 0-4 Ahoghill 1-13

Ahoghill took early control of this re-fixed Doherty Woodshavings Antrim Junior quarter-final in Gortnamona – but a determined effort from the home side made the south west girls fight for their ticket to next Monday’s semi-final.

Gortnamona defended well but could not open up the Ahoghill defence with any sort of consistency with the result that they had only a single point at half-time, scored by Niamh Enright.

At the other end, Noreen Graham pointed twice while cousin and county goalie Caitriona Graham playing at midfield fired over three frees to leave Ahoghill 0-7 to 0-1 ahead at the break.

Noreen and another cousin Áine tagged on points after the break with Noreen eventually getting through for the only goal of the game in the 26th minute.

Niamh Enright added three frees to Gortnamona’s tally during the second half but the team never looked capable of stalling Ahoghill’s progress.
