Loughgiel 1-11 An Port Mor 2-03
Loughgiel hosted St.Mary`s An Port Mor Stewartstown Co Armagh in this Bridie McMenamin Ulster quarter final at Fr Healy Park Loughgiel. The Loughgiel team started brightly and by the 10th minute lead three nil, with Anna Connolly shooting two early points and Cara McIntyre also splitting the uprights. It was a further ten minutes before either team troubled the umpires again but firstly Niamh Forker and then Louise Donnelly closed the gap for the visitors. Loughgiel responded just before the short whistle with a brace of points from the fleet footed wing forward Annie Lynn.
Loughgiel went on to score the next three points via the sticks of Cara McIntyre, Anna Connolly and a 45 from captain Brona McIntyre. At this stage the home team looked quite comfortable leading by six points but the last 7 minutes was to ebb and flow for both teams. At this stage Loughgiel lost Carla McGarry and Mary McKillen to injury and Erin McMullan to two yellow cards which gave the visitors an opportunity for a historic victory. Firstly a point from Nadine Plummer and then a major from Louise Donnelly closed the gap to two points and anything was possible at this stage. However Loughgiel settled and played some of their best camogie and responded with a goal and a point from Cara McIntyre. As the game entered injury time the visitors scored another goal from Nadine Forker but for a second time Loughgiel responded with further points from Shauna McKillop and Cara McIntyre.
