It was another great day’s craic on 27th December at St Brigid’s’ annual John Cahill Cup at Harlequins. With the sun shining in the sky, a good crowd of families and friends turned up to cheer on the various past and current ladies’, men’s and underage players who took part in the mixed sevens blitz. A competitive tournament ensued, with Andrew Sweeney’s ‘Antrim’ side lifting the trophy in the clubhouse afterwards. Best of all, around £250 was raised for charity on the day.
Huge thanks must go to Ruairi O’Neill for his efforts in organising the tournament, as well as Jack Dowling and Anthony Carleton for bravely stepping in as referees and anyone else who helped out, as well as all the players. Thanks too to Bernie and the guys at Harlequins for opening up the clubhouse afterwards. And, of course, thanks to John Mackle, who as ever captured some brilliant moments from the day’s action.
