Gaelcholáiste Dhoire were convincing winners in this semi-final played at the Meadowbank Stadium in Magherafelt today. They had too much firepower for a St. Patrick’s Ballymena side who battled gallantly throughout but in the end were no match for a well drilled Dungiven side.
Early goals from Luke Mac Giolla Chomhaill and Caolán Ó Conaire gave the Dungiven side an early lead while Ger Ó Diolún added to the lead with 2 points. Conor Ó Gruagáin scored an important goal before half time to give the Gaelcholáiste a comfortable lead. In the second half Ballymena came out of the traps quickly and some astute defending by Gaelcholáiste Dhoire captain Ruairí Ó Mianáin and Finbarr Ó Muirí kept them at bay.
St. Patrick’s despite, losing heavily had some outstanding individual performers with Cal O’Brien outstanding at mid-field and scoring two fine points while Calum McAvoy, Lewis Devlin, Niall Devine, Caoimhin Kennedy, Callum McKervey and keeper, Catalin Cucu all worthy of mention
Gaelcholáiste Dhoire ran out comfortable winners in the end and now go forward to meet CBS Belfast in the final.
