Oisins 3-14 Glen Rovers Armoy 0-9

Glenariffe Oisins made a good start to their league campaign when they beat North Antrim rivals Armoy in windy conditions in Waterfoot on Sunday. A good start to the game set them up well as they raced 1-5 to 0-0 clear after seven minutes and though Armoy closed to within six by half time the home side always had the breathing space they needed to seal the victory.

An Aaron Cosgrove point in the opening minute, followed by an Alex O’Boyle goal two minutes later laid the foundation, Two more from O’Boyle frees and one from play by Daniel Haughey saw them eight to the good before Johnny McErlain opened Armoy’s account in the 20^th minute. The introduction of John ‘Rocky’ Dillon finally got the Glen Rovers men going and three more points from McErlain frees plus one from Rocky 2, Liam Dillon left them just six adrift at the break.

Two early second half points from Liam Dillon and Tomas Burns left just four between the sides and Armoy were right back in contention, but a goal and a point inside a minute from Alex O’Boyle gave the initiative back to the Oisins. Liam Dillon pulled another point back for Armoy by Glenariffe finished much stronger and following points from Paul McDonnell and Alex O’Boyle, McDonnell banged in a goal before substitute Caolan O’Connor sealed the win with a well taken goal from a narrow angle.
