St Brigid’s 5-14 Cargin 0-5
St Brigid’s made it three wins out of three in the Minor Football League Division 1 when they easily saw off the challenge of visitors Cargin on Tuesday evening at Musgrave Park. On top throughout the field from start to finish the South Belfast boys had the game all but won at half time when they lead to 3-8 to 0-1. Cargin fared a little better after half time but the home team were able to up the pace when needed and pulled away to win by 24 points.

Points from Boyle, Bradley and Lynch put St Brigid’s three in front after seven minutes before Lynch grabbed his team’s opening goal on eleven minutes. Ronan Boyle added a point before Pat Shivers opened Cargin’s account a minute later, but it was to be the visitors only score of the opening half while St Brigid’s added further goals through Toirealach Brolly and Conor Slevin, plus a series of points to lead by 3-8 to 0-1 at half time.

Three more points after half time stretched the home side’s lead before Cargin had their best spell of the game, hitting three points in a row through Pat Shivers, Tom Shivers and Eunan Quinn. St Brigid’s soon took control again and a barrage of scores, including goals from Bradley and Boyle wrapped up an emphatic win.

In the other games played in Division 1 Tir na nOg beat All Saints by 3-7 to 1-10 to stay level at the top with St Bridid’s on six points, Creggan beat Dunloy by 1-12 to 0-7, St Paul’s beat Aghagallon 7-4 to 3-5, St Gall’s travelled to Glenravel and beat the Con Magees by 5-12 to 0-6 while Aldergrove travelled to the Bear Pit and beat Sarsfields by 2-15 to 3-11.
