Cushendall romp home in second half

Antrim Minor B Camogie final

Cushendall 10-8 Rossa 1-5

A real avalanche of goals in the second half clinched the Minor B Camogie title for Cushendall at Tir na nOg on Saturday. When the sides turned around at the end of an evenly matched first half it looked like this game was going to be tight all through. However Cushendall took complete control in the second half scoring a further nine goals on their way to victory.

Rossa had the first score of the game when full forward Riona Matthews pointed and thought Emir Quinn put Cushendall ahead with a goal soon afterwards, Matthews struck again with a goal for Rossa to give them a slender lead.

Four points in arrow by Cushendall full forward Ellen Leech restored their advantage but Rossa came back strongly with points from Cara Shannon, Ciara McGlinchey and Grace Shannon to level up matters nearing half time, before Anna McNeill pointed to give the Ruairis 1-8 to 1-7 lead at the break.

With the breeze at their backs a goal from Ellen Leech inside the first minute of the second half swung the game firmly in Cushendall’s favour and when Caoimhe McNaughton and Leech hit two more in quick succession the flood gates opened. Maebh Allen, Sine Woodhouse, Molly O’Hara and Naimh Woodhouse all got in on the act as they romped to runaway win.
