Naomh Eargnait Muine Glás – Feile Winners

Moneyglass U14 boy’s footballers qualified for their first ever All-Ireland Football Feile Finals last weekend in Connaught. Although this was a new venture for the boys, the Moneyglass girls were going for their third consecutive Feile title but unfortunately they lost out to Carryduff in extra time at the semi-final stage. The boys were pitted against 16 other clubs in level 5 of the competition out of a total of 13 divisions. After playing their group stage games they qualified for the Shield competition quarter-final on Saturday at McHale Park where they triumphed by 2-6 to 0-6 over Naomh Padraig, Lacken. That set them up for a semi-final encounter against Dunmore McHales where again they were succesful on a scoreline of 4-6 to 1-3. The final was played in Westport where the Moneyglass lads faced Erris St Patricks Kiltane who had defeated the much fancied Mayobridge team in the other semi-final. However, Moneylass came out on top by 4-3 to 2-3 to lift the Division 5 Shield title in their first ever appearance at Feile Peile na nOg.
