All County Football League Division 1
Rossa 2-17 Sarsfields 2-8

Rossa senior footballers took on their neighbours on Wednesday evening in the first game of the 2nd half of the league.
The understrength Rossa side started brightly with a goal within two minutes from Sean Pat Donnelly. A minute later a long ball from Eoin Fleming played into his brother Colm was met by a punch which rocketed off the crossbar, the connection with the ball was almost too good, a defter touch would probably have ended in another 3 points. Rossa went on to dominate the first half with the midfield clearing up followed by strong running from the surrounding team mates.
Some sparkling football was played but Rossa took the foot off the pedal in the last minutes of the half and allowed Sarsfield’s to score 1.03 without reply.
With seven in it at halftime Sarsfields had it all to do but they made a mighty fight of it. They refused to let Rossa out of their half, pressing high and turning the ball over several times resulting in some impressive scores. Rossa we’re struggling at this point however they dug deep to pull themselves through Sarsfield’s purple patch. They kept the score board ticking over at crucial times and a goal in the last ten minutes gave that breathing room to see out a good win.
